Basement Restoration
The homeowners wanted to maximize the square footage of their Chicago property by turning an unfinished, concrete storage area into a fully functional “in-law suite” and entertainment hub. The scope was ambitious: they needed a comfortable lounge area, a fully operational kitchenette, and a brand-new 3-piece bathroom where no plumbing previously existed.
Anchor & Beam delivered a turnkey design-build solution. We started by addressing the foundation, applying commercial-grade waterproofing to ensure the space would remain dry. We then trenched the concrete to install new waste lines and an ejector pump for the bathroom and kitchen. The transformation was completed with a modern open-concept lounge, luxury vinyl plank flooring, and a fresh, neutral paint scheme that brightens the space, making it feel like a main-floor extension rather than a basement.

Technical Precision: Managing the Build
Finishing a basement requires more than just drywall. On this project, we had to integrate complex MEP systems into a tight ceiling plan. We used soffits strategically to hide HVAC trunks while maintaining maximum ceiling height in the lounge area. For the bathroom, we installed a high-capacity ejector pump system to handle waste efficiently against gravity.
